The toll in Monday's fire at Mumbai's ESIC Kamgar Hospital has mounted to eight. Mumbai civic body's disaster management unit confirmed eight deaths so far.

As many as 176 persons including 3 firemen had to be shifted to hospitals because of suffocation. As of now, around 140 persons are undergoing treatment.

Around 20 patients are critical.

The fire in the fourth floor of the ground plus five structure in the Marol area of Andheri East is suspected to have been caused by short-circuiting.

It is also being investigated whether the hospital has a NoC of Fire department.
