New Delhi: The first leg of Parliament's Budget Session was adjourned on Thursday till March 10 with Lok Sabha recording a productivity of 112 per cent.

Speaker Om Birla said the debate during the Motion of Thanks following the President's address went on for 17:23 hours with 173 MPs participating in the productive discussion.

On budget discussion, 170 MPs participated in the discussions which went on for 16:13 hours.

Rajya Sabha also adjourned the proceedings till March 10 after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replied to the debate on budget in the Upper House.

During the recess, the Parliamentary Standing Committees will scrutinise the Demands for Grants for various ministries. After the Parliament reconvenes, the panels will submit their details.

In the second leg, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will discuss the working of at least four ministries each. In Rajya Sabha, the discussion will be held on Home Affairs, Education, Railways, Health and Family Welfare and a fifth ministry which is yet to be finalised.

The second leg is expected to be stormy with the government expected to push the passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 as well as Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025.

The Income Tax Bill, 2025 is unlikely to come up in March-April, as the Select Committee, which will be examining the proposed legislation, time till the first day of the next session. The next session, Monsoon Session, is likely to be held only in July.
