A foetus was recovered from the lavatory of an AirAsia India aircraft after it landed in the Delhi airport on Wednesday.

The incident came to light when the Imphal-Guwahati-Delhi flight landed in the afternoon.

Police said AirAsia manager informed them that a foetus was found in the lavatory.

“A woman had boarded from Guwahati. During the journey, she delivered a premature dead foetus. Matter is being enquired,” police said.

In a statement, AirAsia India said, “A newborn infant was found lifeless and abandoned in one of the lavatories when the aircraft was being prepared for landing.”

It said the Delhi Police were alerted and a doctor from the medical team at the airport confirmed that the baby had been delivered onboard.
