A group of cinema and TV personalities and civil society on Wednesday called on Maharashtra Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao and expressed their support to Major Leetul Gogoi, the officer of the Indian Army who was involved in the Kashmir human shield controversy.

Maj  Gogoi has the backing and support of the Indian Army and the government, however, his act of tying a Kashmiri man to an army vehicle in Srinagar had led to severe criticism.

The delegation under the banner of Nation First Collective led by former Film and Television Institute of India Chairman Gajendra Chauhan called on Rao at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.

Chauhan told the Governor that amembers of the film fraternity gathered under the banner Nation First Collective had recently organised a solidarity march in support of the armed forces and Maj Gogoi.

Actor Paintal, director Uday Shankar Pani, director Imo Singh, Harish Bhimani and others were present.
