Four persons were killed and one injured after a fire broke out at a cloth showroom here on Thursday evening, police said.
The fire started at a Khadi shop at around 4.45 pm and spread rapidly, they said adding four persons including two shop owners and two employees suffered burn injuries. They shifted to a nearby hospital but were declared brought dead by the doctors there.
One passerby also suffered injuries in the mishap even as the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes, police said.
“It was still not clear how the fire broke out... whether it was due to a short-circuit or any other reason was yet to be established,” an Investigating Officer told PTI. In-charge Superintendent of Police, S Umapathy visited the spot and further investigations were on.
