The septuagenarian nun, who was gang-raped by a group of robbers on March 14, left Bengal on Friday.

Officials said she has been taken to an undisclosed location by authorities of the Roman Catholic Church for physical and spiritual well-being.

The 71-year-old nun was gang-raped during a robbery at a convent in Ranaghat of Nadia district. On Friday morning, she was discharged from the state-run hospital where she was admitted after the assault. She was flown out of Kolkata airport at 6 am.

While officials did not disclose her destination, sources said the church has arranged for her to be taken to Delhi. She has been advised to consult a gynaecologist and a psychiatrist after March 24, 10 days after the assault.

Sources said after the medical board appointed to look after her gave an all-clear signal, the convent authorities got her discharged at about 2:30 am and she was brought to Kolkata by road.

A doctor accompanied her to the airport to ensure that she was not feeling any discomfort. The hospital’s medical superintendent said the elderly woman has recovered completely.

The state CID is yet to arrest any of those involved, despite CCTV footage clearly capturing faces of four of the accused. Besides raping her, the accused looted the convent and vandalised the chapel.
