Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has launched his second year in office with an exercise to weed out the dead wood in the party and government into “good, bad and ugly.”
The progress report was prepared through a secret survey by Naidu’s Stanford educated son Nara Lokesh who has become party custodian for Naidu.
Driven by several setbacks in executing the poll promises in the backdrop of a non-cooperative Centre which has denied special status for Andhra Pradesh and funds for the new capital, Chandrababu Naidu had hinted on dropping two BJP ministers from his cabinet.
“If necessary, we will also withdraw our representatives from the NDA government if the Centre continues its indifferent attitude towards residual Andhra Pradesh,” Naidu told a crucial party meeting held in Vijayawada last week.
The performance appraisals released by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu have made the MPs, ministers and MLAs jittery. Naidu handed over what he called the “progress reports”, to the MPs, MLAs and ministers individually in separate covers. He, however, did not divulge the rankings openly and suggested that the leaders make efforts to improve them.
He even applauded MLAs who did good work. The party leaders, however, are said to be unhappy with the exercise and the rankings given by the party chief. The rankings were based on surveys conducted in every Assembly and Lok Sabha constituency by a special team of Media Analysis Analysts (MAA) attached to the CMO.
