The question was: When was the National Flag unfurled for the first time at the Red Fort? Interestingly, the Union Home Ministry is unaware.
Nityanand Mishra, a teacher in Chapra district, had originally asked the Culture Ministry through the RTI, but the ministry in its reply said the issue was related to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Later, Mishra filed an RTI application with the MHA, which replied that not much information is available about it.
Mishra said he became curious because “when the government was not formed, then how come Nehru as the PM could hoist the flag at the Red Fort on August 15, 1947?”
