The Civil Aviation Ministry and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will deliberate on clearing regulatory bottlenecks to encourage air connectivity in remote areas later this month.
The DGCA had last month appointed an eight-member committee under its Joint Director General, Arvind Sardana, and tasked them with submitting a report by August 15 on promoting remote connectivity by identifying specific remote route clusters.
Sources said the Civil Aviation Rules (CAR) in this regard could be in place by the first week of September after the committee makes a presentation before top ministry and DGCA officials on August 25 or 26. If the CAR in this regard is modified, it will give a fillip to the non-scheduled operators (NSOPs) who claim that they have aircraft, which could be utilised.
