Two policemen were injured in a grenade attack by militants in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday.

Reports said unidentified militants lobbed a grenade on Pulwama Police Station at around 10:40 am.

SSP Pulwama Aslam Choudhary while confirming the incident said two policemen sustained minor splinter injuries in the blast.

Reports said immediately after the attack security forces cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the attackers.

Since last year militants have been using grenade attacks frequently against the security forces in the Valley. On January 19, eight policemen were injured in a similar attack in the same district. On September 7, a civilian was killed while over a dozen others were injured when militants lobbed a grenade on a CRPF vehicle in Jehangir Chowk.

On June 13, a series of five grenade attacks rocked southern Kashmir in which eight CRPF personnel and four policemen were injured.
