An officer of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) jumped to death from the World Trade Centre at posh Cuffe Parade in south Mumbai.

The deceased was identified as Harendra Kapadia (51), a superintendent with the GST office in Mumbai.

The incident was reported around 1830 hrs on Monday.

The reason of the suicide remains unknown.

An accidental death report has been registered and detailed investigations were in progress.

Initial reports said that he was unwell and around 10 months ago, he had suffered a stroke. He had stopped going to office since then.
