Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Friday arrested five people following a raid at a drug manufacturing factory in Khambhat in Anand district.
ATS said that it has seized 107 kg powder of Alprazolam which is used in making tablets to treat anxiety disorders. Officials said that it is a sedative which was being manufactured without any license.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, ATS, Sunil Joshi told Deccan Herald that five people have been arrested including the receiver who hails from Madhya Pradesh.
"We are investigating how exactly the group was trying to use the powder. Our investigation establishes that this is the first consignment of Alprazolam powder which the suspects had produced," Joshi said.
