33-year-old man, a subject of drug testing, found dead in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 33-year-old man, who was reportedly a subject of drug testing by a private pharmaceutical company, was found dead on Wednesday under suspicious circumstances in north Bengaluru’s Jalahalli.

Nagesh, a native of Kalaburagi, was undergoing drug experimentation by a private company in Electronics City. He was staying in a rented house in Jalahalli with his younger brother, where he was found dead.

When Nagesh was shifted to a private hospital in a critical condition, doctors declared that he was dead on arrival.

His brother has lodged a complaint, expressing suspicion over the private company’s drugs, which prompted the police to file an unnatural death report and launch a probe.

According to the complainant, Nagesh underwent experimentation twice in December. After the second time, he was admitted to a private hospital and kept in the ICU. 

Even after his discharge, Nagesh used to attend drug-testing sessions.

The company had kept him in a paying guest accommodation in Electronics City. However, he later shifted to his brother’s place. Nagesh used to attend the testing sessions twice a week. 

A police officer investigator told DH that the preliminary cause of death was a blood clot in the heart. However, as Nagesh's brother has expressed suspicion, they have launched a probe.

“We are waiting for the final postmortem report to ascertain the exact reason behind the condition Nagesh suffered. Once it is known, we will launch an investigation,” the officer told DH.
