While coming out of the courtroom in Patiala House Court Complex, Singh was allegedly assaulted by some Nationalist Congress Party (MCP) workers even as police denied any manhandling.

“They tried to attack him but police managed to avert any manhandling,” said a police official from Tilak Nagar Police Station in New Delhi district.

However, Dinesh Prasad Joshi, a NCP youth wing leader from Haryana claimed before the media persons that he managed to slap Harvinder.

Accompanied by around 30 NCP workers, Dinesh shouted pro-Pawar slogans in the court premises.

Later they sat on the road outside the court complex.

“He (Singh) hit the head of our family. That is why it was important for us to give him the answer,” said Joshi. The claim was also corroborated by neutral eyewitnesses.

Metropolitan Magistrate Jasjeet Kaur sent Harvinder Singh to judicial custody till December 9 for slapping Sharad Pawar outside the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Thursday.
