The top court wondered, "What kind of petition is this! It wants to stop a democratically elected government from taking office."

A bench of Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra rejected the petition on not finding any merit in the plea.

The plea filed by Priya Mishra and another person also sought re-election in 20 assembly seats as EVMs were found 60-70 per cent charged.

Saini had earlier in the day taken oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana for the second time at a ceremony held in Panchkula.

Senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and senior leaders of the NDA coalition apart from the members of public were in attendance. Governor Bandaru Dattatreya administered the oath of office to Saini at Dussehra Grounds in Panchkula.
