An incident of a jealous husband in rage committing a heinous crime to avenge his wife's extramarital affair has occured in Haryana.
Jagdeep, who was working as a yoga teacher at Baba Mastnath University in Rohtak, was abducted and buried alive in a seven-foot-deep pit in Charkhi Dadri district.
According to police, the main accused, Rajkaran, suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair with Jagdeep. His suspicions were found to be true when he discovered a photo of Jagdeep in his wife's phone.
Jagdeep was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, after which his uncle Ishwar, who is a resident of Jhajjar, filed a missing person's complaint at the Shivaji Colony Police Station on February 3.
Police found Jagdeep's corpse on March 24, about 3 months later, after the crime took place.
Media reports differed in how the kidnapping took place with India Today saying that Jagdeep was abducted on his way home while returning from work, his hands and legs were tied, and his mouth was taped to prevent him from making any noise.
He was taken to a deserted field where Rajkaran had dug a deep pit (in which Jagdeep was buried alive) with the help of a labourer by telling him a fabricated story about how the accused wanted the pit for a borewell.
According to police, the call records of Jagdeep helped in cracking the case and led to the arrest of two -- Dharampal and Hardeep.
According to a report by the TOI, Jagdeep was abducted by four men from his rented house after which he was loaded into a vehicle, taken to a remote place in Paintawas Kalan village where he was buried alive.
Kuldeep Singh, Crime Investigation Agency unit in-charge Kuldeep Singh told ANI on March 25 that Jagdeep was abducted and buried alive, and that a postmortem would also be conducted.
Singh said, "A missing report of Jagdeep was registered in Shivaji Colony police station. It was filed around 2 to 2.5 months ago. Later, it was found that after being abducted, his body was kept in Dadri. Accused Hardeep and Dharampal have been arrested. After arresting them, we recovered the body (of Jagdeep)...The investigation is underway. Today, the postmortem will be done...The deceased was abducted, and then he was buried alive."
"There are 1-2 more accused involved in the crime. The teams are trying to catch them. The arrested accused have been presented before the court. They are currently on remand," Singh added.
