Haryana designates police stations for counterfeit currency

A police department spokesman said here Tuesday that the Haryana government has designated one police station in each of the 21 districts of the state as the nodal police station for registering and handling crimes related to counterfeit Indian currency.

"The step had been taken to control the crime of counterfeit currency production and usage and to provide necessary investigation and provide law and order support to banks," the spokesman said.

He added that the step had been initiated in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

He said that one deputy superintendent of police (DSP) level officer has been designated for each of the districts for sorting out security-related problems of the banks.
