The Haryana government on Tuesday “rubbished” accusations of breaking promises made to Rio Olympics bronze medal winner Sakshi Malik.

The Haryana-based wrestler had tweeted that “announcements made by Haryana government after Olympic medal win were for the media only”.

She sought to know when the state government would fulfil its promise as she did by winning a medal for the country.

On Tuesday, state Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij said the government has not broken any promise and all facilities and award have been provided as per the rules.

The minister, who was replying to a question in the Assembly, said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave her a cheque of Rs 2.5 crore the day she landed in India after the Olympics.
