The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday admitted a civil defamation suit filed by Trinamool Congress General Secretary Mukul Roy against former chief minister of West Bengal Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for his alleged derogatory remarks against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding her honesty in a TV interview recently.

In his petition, Mukul Roy claimed that the former the CPM veteran had made derogatory comments with regard to the TMC supremo's honesty in a TV interview recently. Admitting the petition Justice Indrashis Mukhopadhyay directed Roy's counsels to serve notice to Bhattacharjee and said that the matter would come up for hearing after four weeks.

Appearing for the petitioner, counsel Rajdeep Majumdar submitted that Bhattacharjee be restrained from making such derogatory comments against the chief minister.

Bhattacharjee, a month back, in an interview to a vernacular News Channel denied accepting Mamata Banerjee as an honest person.   Answering a question on Banerjee’s honesty, Bhattacharjee had said, "I do not want to comment on it, but I do not accept it. You can do your own investigation and find out".
