Hours after his release, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on Thursday said that he was not a terrorist and his name should not be linked with the March 12, 1993 serial blasts that shook Mumbai.
“I still say...I am not a terrorist,” the 56-year-old actor said during his first media interaction at Imperial Heights, his Pali Hill bungalow at Bandra after coming out of Pune’s Yerawada central prison.
With folded hands, he said: “I request all of you with folded hands…please, it is a humble request…I was not convicted under TADA, I was out of TADA. I was out of 120-B (of Indian Penal Code), criminal conspiracy. I was convicted under Arms Act.”
“Whenever you want to write anything about me, about the case, don’t mention 1993 bomb blasts. I was not into it…The TADA court has cleared me of this charge, the Supreme Court has upheld this,” an emotional Sanjay Dutt said.
He said that it came as a relief to him when Justice (Retd) P D Kode, the then special Judge of TADA court conducted the trial that he was free of terror charges.
