"I will not quit the seat. Even Mulayam Singh Yadav had not asked me to do so when I had spoken to him a few days ago,” he said soon after the announcement of his expulsion from the SP. On reports of his plans to joint Congress, BSP and the NCP, he said: “I have had no discussion with anybody or any party, be it BSP, Congress or NCP or others.”
Asked why no action was taken by the SP against Jaya Bachchan, Singh said: “Jayaji has recently said that given a choice between her family and the party, she will choose her family.”
Reacting to the expulsion of Singh, senior Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi said the party was “not a wastepaper basket”.
