An Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter plane crashed in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district, about 350 kilometres from here, on Monday.

According to reports, the pilot of the Jaguar fighter aircraft bailed out before the crash.

Sources said that the fighter plane, which was on a routine training mission, had taken off from Gorakhpur Air Base. It crashed barely minutes after taking off near Hetimpur village in the district.

The plane crashed into a filed and caught fire. Fortunately, there was no one in the fields at that time.

Eyewitnesses said that the pilot sustained minor injuries.

Police and IAF personnel had reached the site of the crash, sources said.
