"Our Constitution is 'Constitution of India' and India is a recognised name, there is no need to change it to Bharat," Siddaramaiah told reporters here.

Meanwhile, KPCC President D K Shivakumar lashed out at the Narendra Modi-led union government. "This move only shows that the union government is scared of the unity of the opposition parties. The BJP is scared of losing elections. The name 'India' is part of the country's currency too. They are trying to change this," he said.
