The Peoples’ Liberation Army of China organised a border meet with Indian forces on October 1, to mark the Chinese National Day.

While both the sides exchanged greetings, the borer meet comes at a time when Sino-Indian border relations have seen tense moments recently in the Ladakh sector. In the meeting, both sides agreed to increase mutual cooperation for better border management on the Arunachal frontier, sources added. 

According to an Indian Army statement, Brigadier DS Kushwah, Commander of Tawang Brigade led the Indian delegation, while Colonel Tang Fu Cheng, Commander of Tsona Dzong Garrison led the Chinese delegation.

Border meets are regular affairs and conducted every year on the occasion of Chinese National Day and Indian Independence Day, where the National flags of India and China are unfurled, followed by ceremonial address by both the delegation leaders.

“The delegations parted amidst feelings of friendship and commitment towards enhancing the existing cordial relations and maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control. Both sides also sought to build on the mutual feeling to upholding the treaties and agreements signed between the governments to maintain peace and tranquility along the LAC” the statement further added.
