India on Monday said talks with China on the boundary dispute were moving in the right direction although it may take time before results start showing, given the complexity of the situation.

“You can expect a slow but steady improvement in the overall situation. In terms of results that you get from the talks, you can’t have any immediate results because it is a very complicated and sensitive area,” said External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.

He was responding to queries on the status of talks between India and China on boundary dispute. Khurshid said the fact that India and China were moving in the right direction to resolve the row was “comforting” for both countries.

National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon, who is India’s special representative for talks with China on the boundary issue, was in Beijing on December 3 and 4 for holding informal parleys with his counterpart and Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo.
