New Delhi: Additional Chief Secretary to New and Renewable Energy department of Madhya Pradesh Government Manu Shrivastava has said that Madhya Pradesh has secured India’s lowest-ever price for buying solar power backed by battery storage in a clean energy auction, a defining leap towards energy reliability and sustainability.
Madhya Pradesh's first ‘Solar-plus-Storage' project being developed in Morena, a record-low tariff of Rs 2.70 per unit was achieved. This is the first project in India where firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) will be available at a cost of less than Rs 3 per unit.
The Morena Solar Park is being implemented by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited. The electricity generated will be purchased by Madhya Pradesh.
"We have now reached another historic milestone delivering round-the-clock solar-plus-storage power at Rs 2.70 per unit. The recently floated 440 MW solar-plus-storage project in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, with 95% availability for four peak hours through BESS, has established in India that solar energy remains viable even when stored and supplied during non-solar hours — a defining leap towards energy reliability and sustainability,” he said while addressing gathering at The 18th Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo and the 3rd Battery Show India (TBSI) at Greater Noida, near here.
“India’s renewable energy sector today stands at the intersection of innovation, economic viability, and environmental stewardship," he said.
Debashish Das, Head RE Nodal Agency, Government of Odisha, said Under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy aligned with Viksit Odisha 2026 and Viksit Bharat 2047, we are prioritizing renewable adoption through initiatives like floating solar projects across our 2.25 lakh sq. km of water reservoirs and pump storage opportunities.”
Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, said that the clean energy transition is accelerating faster than ever, with renewable capacity surpassing 250 GW in 2025 and a strong pipeline targeting 500 GW by 2030.
The 18th Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo and the 3rd Battery Show India (TBSI) is being held from October 30 to November 1 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. Organised by Informa Markets in India, the event will bring together global and Indian stakeholders in renewable energy under the theme “Decoding Pathways to Achieve Net Zero,” a statement said.
