Bengal BJP MP urges Cong, Left to join hands with it to defeat TMC in rural polls

BJP MP Saumitra Khan on Tuesday urged all opposition parties, including the Congress and the Left Front, to join hands with the saffron camp to defeat the Trinamool Congress in the panchayat polls due next year.

The Congress and the Left Front, however, dismissed Khan’s proposal by terming the BJP and the TMC as “two sides of the same coin”.(PTI)

The BJP on Tuesday staged a protest outside the AAP office here and demanded a lie detector test for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after suspected conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar claimed that he was forced to bribe the party.

In a series of letters, Chandrashekhar has alleged that he paid money to Delhi minister Satyender Jain and other AAP leaders for protection in jail and a Rajya Sabha ticket from the party.(PTI)

Around 80 per cent of 43,595 voters exercised their franchise in the Deori autonomous council elections in Assam on Tuesday, an official statement said.

Congress prepares for Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rajasthan
