The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes over Samajwadi Party legislator Abu Azmi Azmi saying that chanting Vande Mataram was not acceptable to him.

As soon as he made the statement, there were protests by the Treasury benches.

He also said that there has to be a mechanism to ensure that there are no hate speeches and if there are hate speeches, action needs to be taken.

Speaker Rahul Narwekar, who was in the Chair, asked members to calm down.
