With Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi set to arrive in Bengaluru on Friday (August 8) to address the “vote theft” rally at Freedom Park, the Bengaluru City Traffic have issued a travel advisory, imposing restrictions on MG Road, Cubbon Road and Old Airport Road.
The 'Vote Adhikaar' rally led by Rahul is slated to take place from 11 am. Following the protest, agitators are also slated to march to the Election Commission office in the city.
"The information Rahul Gandhi gave about the theft of vote...murder of democracy... all the evidence is available on Election Commission's website itself. Rahul Gandhi challenged Election Commission through his presentation. The Election Commission, at present, is the extended branch of the BJP. It is not that Seshan's (former CEC TN Seshan) Election Commission," the Sena (UBT) leader said.
The Bihar SIR exercise continued to rock Parliament as Opposition MPs gathered on Parliament premises to protest against what it alleged was 'vote chori'. While both Houses are set to begin proceedings at 11 am, an adjournment could well be on the cards as ruckus continues.
After initially announcing a 25 per cent tariffs on Indian imports, US President Donald Trump recently hiked it to 50 per cent, citing New Delhi's refusal to stop buying Russian oil.
Rahul, who travelled to the city with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, was welcomed by Deputy CM D K Shivakumar and KPCC in-charge Randeep Surjewala.
"The entire country is saying that the Election Commission should conduct an inquiry and tell the country what is happening...The govt doesn't have the courage to discuss SIR in the House, so why would they discuss this issue in the House? The government is so weak that it is not able to run the House...," said Congress PM Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Apart from Rahul, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leaders, including Deputy Karnataka CM D K Shivakumar, are present.
If Gandhi does not sign the declaration, it would mean that he does not believe in his analysis and resultant conclusions and 'absurd allegations', EC officials said.
The Congress, in a rally led by Rahul Gandhi in Bengaluru, posed five questions to the Election Commission (EC), which it has accused of fabricating voter lists and aiding the BJP.
The grand old party posted:
1. Why are you not providing the voters' list in a digital, machine-readable format to the people of India?
2. Why are you destroying video evidence?
3. Why is the ECI committing massive fraud in the voter list?
4. Why is the ECI threatening the Opposition instead of answering our questions?
5. Why is the ECI behaving like an agent of the BJP?
"The scam exposed by Rahul Gandhi should be immediately investigated by the Election Commission," said Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal.
"This (Congress) party is claiming that the election process is not correct, but your party background is corrupt. How can you blame PM Modi... They want to add Bangladeshi and Pakistani Muslims to the voter list, and the Election Commission is not allowing them to do so, which is the main problem..." R Ashoka told ANI.
