Senior IPS officer T P Senkumar on Saturday approached the Supreme Court, seeking contempt action against the Kerala government’s top officer.

Senkumar has accused Chief Secretary Nalini Netto of “wilful disobedience” of the apex court’s order, which had directed his reinstatment as the state Director General of Police (DGP).

Five days after the direction, the chief secretary failed to issue orders in this regard, he charged. “There is a sinister intention behind the contemnors resolute refusal to implement this court’s directions,” he said.

His petition filed by advocate Haris Beeran contended that Nalini was the author of the note dated May 26, 2016, for his removal, and therefore she “may at all costs delay the implementation solely to frustrate the petitioner’s cause”.

The officer claimed that he had already provided on April 27 a certified copy of the apex court’s judgement, but so far no order has been issued. He said he had sent a letter, too, on April 25 for “expeditiously carrying out the directions”.

Senkumar was removed just as the LDF government assumed office. He was accused of protecting officers in the Puttingal Temple tragedy. He was also blamed for laxity in the Jisha murder case.
