The parents of Mohammed Aleem, the suspected Islamic State (IS) member who was arrested from here on Friday night, claimed that their son is innocent and that they have never of heard of IS.
“We never heard Aleem making any reference to IS...he did sometimes discuss religious issues with the clerics but never talked about terrorism,” said Aleem’s mother Ishrat.
She, however, disclosed that Aleem had attended a religious meeting somewhere outside the state a few months ago. “He had started discussing religious matter recently,” she added.
Aleem, who worked as a videographer, was arrested by the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) from Vasant Vihar here on Friday. Another IS suspect Rizvan was also arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district.
