ITBP team to ski down Mt Everest

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is set to create a world record by sending a team to Mount Everest to ski down from the highest peak in the world.

The 23-member expedition led by Prem Singh, commandant and renowned mountaineer , was flagged off  on Friday by Delhi Governor  Tejendar Khanna. Deputy leader of the expedition Akhilesh Singh Rawat is also a known mountaineer.

“This team has experienced mountaineers and skiers and it will certainly fulfil its mission of skiing  down the peak”, said Ranjit Sinha DG, ITBP. The expedition is being launched to mark the Golden jubilee year of the force, which is a pioneer in the filed of adventurous sports activities.

The team will also collect garbage accumulated on the Everest route , bring it down and  later dispose it of scientifically.
