The actress contended that there was delay in submitting charges and hence the case cannot be proceeded against her.

When the case came up, Justice Thomas P Joseph adjourned it.

The Kerala police had registered a case four years after Jayamala's claim and had filed chargesheet before the Judicial First Class Magistrate court at Ranni in Pathnamthitta district on December 14 last year.

Jayamala is the third accused in the case while astrologer Parapanangadi Unnikrishnan and his aide are the two other accused. Panicker had after a 'Devaprashnam' (astrological examination of temple affairs) conducted on June 16, 2006 revealed that Jayamala had touched the idol, which is against the hill shrine's customs.

The issue had raised a storm and crime branch probe revealed that it was only a 'conspiracy' hatched by the astrologer and his aide.

Women devotees between the age of 10-50 are not allowed inside the temple.
