Opposing the state government's plan to convert Jayalalithaa residence into a memorial, Deepa said she would take legal recourse against the ruling AIADMK's move.

Deepa, the niece of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa, and her brother Deepak on Friday said that AIADMK government cannot take a unilateral decision to convert their aunt’s Poes Garden residence into a memorial without consulting them.

The duo claimed that they were the Jayalalithaa’s blood relations and that her Poes Garden residence belonged to them.

Opposing the state government’s plan to convert Jayalalithaa residence into a memorial, Deepa said she would take legal recourse against the ruling AIADMK’s move.

However, Deepa’s brother Deepak said though he and his sister may be willing to give their aunt’s property for a memorial, the government shall follow the procedure established under law before taking over the house.
