JD-U hits back at RK Singh

A day after former Union home secretary R K Singh charged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with being “soft on Maoists and Jihadis”, the ruling Janata Dal - United (JD-U) hit back at the retired bureaucrat-turned-politician.

“R K Singh has violated the oath of secrecy by making such irresponsible statements after retiring from service. If his charges are true, why he did not rake up the issue when he was Union home secretary,” questioned Bihar JD-U president Vashishtha Narain Singh.

The retired bureaucrat, in an interview, had recently alleged that Nitish had “compromised on national security and was soft towards the Maoists and Jihadis”. He also alleged that Indian Mujahideen modules could set up terror networks in Bihar, claiming  that ministers in the Nitish Cabinet were providing tacit support to ISI operatives.

“All these charges are complete nonsense. Singh should rather explain to the people what he did when he was holding the post of Union home secretary,” averred the state JD-U chief.
