A cop of Jammu and Kashmir Police decamped with four rifles in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday.
Sources told DH that the policeman, posted on guard duty in Nasrullahpora, Budgam, 16 kms from here, decamped with the rifles last night.
They believe that the policeman, hailing from south Kashmir’s volatile Shopian distirct, might have joined militants like his predecessor Naseer Pandith who decamped with his service rifle while he was posted on guard at Education Minister Altaf Bukhari's residence in Sheikhbagh area of Srinagar in March 2015.Pandith was later killed in an encounter with security forces in 2016.
