The Jammu & Kashmir Police on Saturday registered a case of rash-driving against the CRPF for "mowing down" a youth during protests in Srinagar on Friday.

The police have also registered a case of rioting against the protesters. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar, Imtiaz Ismail Parray, while confirming the registration of the case, said, “We have lodged two cases with regard to the incidents and further investigations have been taken up.”

The cases include— FIR No 18/2018 u/s 307,148,149,152,336,427 RPC and FIR No 19/2018 U/s 279 (rash driving), 337 of the RPC.

Kaiser Bhat, 21, was "mowed down" by the CRPF vehicle near the historic Jamia Masjid in the old city area of Nowhatta during protests on Friday.

He was admitted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar, where he succumbed to critical internal injuries early on Saturday.
