The Nitish Kumar government on Wednesday decided to cancel the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) examination after the charges of a question paper leak were found to be true.

The state government on Monday had constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the reported leak of question papers for the examination conducted by the BSSC on Sunday.

The BSSC had conducted the examinations for the appointment of clerks in the state government.

The first phase of examination was conducted on January 29, while the second round was held on February 5.

Over 4.5 lakh examinees appeared for the recruitment test at 750 centres in 38 districts across Bihar.

On Monday, hundreds of irate examinees as well as students, owing allegiance to the All India Students Federation (AISF), stormed the BSSC office and damaged the main entrance gate.

They also assaulted BSSC secretary Parmeshwar Ram.
