In a shocking incident of medical negligence 10 people have reported loss of vision after attending a eye camp in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

This incident comes on the heels of a botched cataract surgery at a free eye camp at Punjab's Gurdaspur.

Atleast 60 people had attended the camp which was held in March this year; of them 10 of them complained of loss of sight.

The Kangra administration is already looking into the matter. The affected people struggled for several months before protesting against the doctor.

"Earlier I could see little with our eye, but after surgery I can't see anything…we want the doctor to be punished," Raghubir Singh, one of the victims of the eye camp, told NDTV.

In Gurdaspur, at least 14 people had lost their vision and the doctor who performed the surgeries was arrested.

The main reason for the loss of sight is said to be the severely unhygienic conditions and poorly sterilised equipment used at such camps.
