As many as 1,168 polling booths will be set up in the five Assembly constituencies of the district and a total of 8,67,945 voters will exercise their franchise, said Deputy Commissioner N Manjula. Chintamani Assembly constituency has the highest number of polling booths - 244.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, she asked the polling officers to ensure free and fair election.
Voter identity cards have already been issued in the five Assembly constituencies and series of programmes are being organised to create awareness among the voters to exercise their franchise.
Clearing confusion
“We are making honest efforts to clear any kind of confusion with regard to names in the voters’ list. We are considering the complaints submitted by the voters,” she added.
Various squads have been formed to check any malpractices and poll code violation. The officers will keep an eye on poll expenditures of the candidates, she said.
Publicity materials to be used by the parties and candidates will be strictly monitored by the media in-charge squad.
Superintendent N Shivaprasad said a total of 250 polling booths have been identified as hyper-sensitive, 334 booths as sensitive.
Police will keep a strict vigil to check any poll code violations and malpractices.
“We have taken a few anti-social elements to arrest as a preventive measure and additional number of police will be deployed near sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths,” he said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sathyabhama and Assistant Commissioner K T Shantala were present.
Control room
The district administration has set up a round-the-clock control room to keep a tab on poll code violations and also poll expenditure in Chikkaballapur. The public can alert the control room if they find poll code violation on toll-free number 08156-250002/1950.
They may also lodge complaints against extensive poll expenditure by any party, if they come across any.
