14 from State still missing in Uttarakhand

As many as 14 people from the State are still missing in Uttarakhand, Leader of the House S R Patil informed the Legislative Council on Friday.

Of the 1,331 people identified from the State, as many as 1,317 have been safely brought back.

The minister said photographs and other important details of the missing persons have been sent to the Uttarakhand government to trace them. The government had spent Rs 51 lakh to hire two helicopters for rescue operations and donated Rs five crore to the Uttarakhand government for rehabilitation programme. The State has also paid Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the family of Basavaraj Yeragatti, an ITBP soldier from Gadag, who died in a chopper crash in Uttarkhand while on a rescue mission, he added.
