1,900 litres of molasses destroyed

Officers from the Excise department conducted a raid at Appinayanapalli village on the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border and destroyed 1,900 litres of molasses stored for manufacturing illicit liquor.

Excise officers were tipped about the clandestine sale of illicit liquor in Srinivaspur. A probe into the sale revealed that liquor was being illegally transported from Andhra Pradesh.

A joint team of excise officers from both the states headed by Excise Deputy Superintendent K K Sumitha conducted raids on Appinayanapalli, Obishettyhalli, Matuku, Pulasumananipenta and other border villages of Andhra Pradesh, and destroyed 1,900 litres of molasses.

Taluk Excise Inspector G Satish, Lottery Prevention Squad Sub Inspector Mohan Kumar, District Excise department Vigilance Squad’s M Nataraj, Kolar Excise Inspector Mareappa Naatikaar, Excise SI K V Srinivas, constables Kittappa, Lakshmipathi, Vishwanath, Shivappa, Mahesh and Henjaarappa were part of the team.

In another case, a raid was conducted near Rojenahalli Cross in the taluk which led to the arrest of Venkataravanappa, alleged to be involved in manufacturing spurious liquor.

Excise officers seized duplicate bottles, labels and 2,600 fake caps of various well-known liquor brands. The total worth of the seized goods is estimated to be Rs 15,000.
