The election officers said nomination paper filed by Pavitra who wanted to contest from Yallampalli taluk panchayat constituency was rejected as she had not furnished the birth certificate.

Patapalya constituency candidate Alavelamma’s nomination paper was rejected on the grounds that the caste certificate submitted by her was not valid.
Election officer T A Hanumantharaya clarified that verification of the nomination papers were conducted as per the norms and those who have not furnished required certificates were rejected and there was no other political motif.
Block Congress President Srinivas Reddy, Taluk Panchayat former president Ashwathappa, Yuva Congress President H S Narendra and Town Municipality member V Anand had led the protesters against the election officer.
