A hundred and six years old Achamma and Chikkasoudamma (110) cast their votes at Manchanabale and Gerahalli polling booths in the taluk respectively on Sunday.
Villagers carried the two elderly women in chairs and helped them exercise their most valued democratic right.

“I do not remember the number of times that I have cast my vote. However, I have exercised my franchise at every election held so far. Though I am a resident of Manchanabale, I have been residing at my brother Venkateshappa’s home at Vapasandra in Chikkaballapur for the past few days. However, I travelled along with my brother to Manchanabale in an autorickshaw to cast my vote in the polls held today,” recounted Achamma.

Lakshmi Narayan, a resident of Manchanabale, carried Achamma from the autorickshaw to the booth.Similarly, Chikkasoudamma too reminiscenced of having cast her vote in all the elections held so far. Residents of Gerahalli carried the centenarian in a chair and helped her cast the  vote.
