City Police have arrested two persons in connection with theft at the Bangalore residence of Chittor (Andhra Pradesh) Lok Sabha member, Adikeshavalu, they recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 1.5 crore.
Amarkumar Pandey, Inspector General of Police (Central Range), said at a press meet here on Friday that Akram, a resident of Madanapalli and a servant in the house of the MP stole the valuables over a period of three years. Wasim was selling the booty through Babajan, a resident of Millat Nagar. Both were taken into custody on October 8, when they were trying to sell some materials stolen, at Keerthi pawns shop in Kolar.
The recovered valuables include gold necklaces with diamonds, pearls and corals embedded in them, silver articles, foreign watch, a German-make pistol and five bullets. The stolen articles were found in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Mumbai, the IGP said.
The police officer said Adikeshavalu has not lodged a complaint till now while his son Srinivas had filed a complaint on theft of his pistol at Sadashivanagar police station in Bangalore, on April 3. Pandey said the City police did a remarkable job in a span of ten days and brought the investigation to a logical conclusion.
The IGP announced Rs 25,000 award for the team led by Circle Inspector of City police station. Gulpet PSI Sadique Pasha, City police station PSIs M Ambarish and Chandrappa, head constables Hameed Khan, M Annan, Biregowda and others took part in the operation.
