The Centre has allocated an additional 200 MW of unallocated power for the State with immediate effect.

A communication to this effect has been sent by Piyush Goyal, Union minister of State for power to Union Urban Development minister Venkaiah Naidu.

Earlier this week, Naidu had sought 1,000 MW of power for Karnataka to mitigate the power shortage.

At present, the State is facing a shortage of 3,000 MW of power.
“The ministry of power is also working towards providing additional support as the transmission capacity to the southern region improves” Goyal has stated.
