Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that the 2018 polls will be the last election he would be contesting and hence he wants to enter the fray from Chamundeshwari constituency, which gave him “political rebirth.”

“The upcoming election is likely to be my last, and thus, I want to contest from Chamundeshwari, from where I have won five times,” Siddaramaiah said while speaking to reporters at his residence in the city on Saturday. However, he said, the high command will decide on the candidature of his son Dr Yathindra from Varuna Assembly constituency.

Accusing the BJP of appointing Vistaraks to spread Hindutva in the state, he said that the party won’t succeed in its attempt as Karnataka was Basavanna’s state. The chief minister said that the BJP was trying to divide the state on the basis of religion. “Violence will come down on its own if the politicians of Dakshina Kannada and media keep quiet,” he said.
