To support Gram Panchayats, the government has been honouring GPs with Nirmala Grama puraskar. As many as 22 Gram Panchayats in Kodagu district have received the award during the year.
They are Hoddur, Kanthur-Moornadu, Konanjageri, Kundacheri and Made in Madikeri taluk, 7th Hosakote, Byadagotta, Shanthalli, Doddamalthe, Garvale, Gowdalli, Hanagallu, Haradooru, Kiragandoor, Kodlipete, Koodige, Shirangala, Thorenoor in Somwarpet taluk, Betoli, Kadanoor, Kanoor and Kedamullur in Virajpet taluk. Earlier, 34 Gram Panchayats had received the award.
