25 generic medicine stores for Chikkamagaluru district

A total of 25 Prime Minister Generic Medicine stores (Janaushadhi Kendras) have been sanctioned for Chikkamagaluru district and Sringeri will have five such stalls, Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar said.

During his visit to the famed Sharadamba Temple here on Thursday, he said the stalls will be opened at the places suggested by the legislators. Patients can save one of the cost if they buy medicines at generic medicine stores, he added. He said he had prayed to Goddess Sharadamba for good rain.

Ananth Kumar said there is a stock of one lakh metric tonne urea and 50,000 metric tonne of other fertilisers. The required availability of manure to farmers will be ensured. For the first time in the last 50 years, the cost of manure has been decreased. The cost of per bag of DAP is reduced by Rs 195, potash by Rs 250 and other manure by Rs 50. This year, there has been an additional 278 million tonne production of food, he explained.

The Union government has sanctioned Rs 4,500 crore compensation towards the flood and drought relief measures. This is the highest amount sanctioned to any state in the last 10 years. The chief minister has not distributed Rs 550 crore meant for the compensation towards crop loss, he charged.

He said he will urge the chief minister to distribute the benefits within a week. The local MLA should follow up the same, he added.

He said the Adamya Chethana Foundation, dedicated to the memory of his mother, has served mid-day meals to 43 crore schoolchildren in the last 15 years. Saplings are being planted under Green India campaign. A total of 60,000 saplings have been planted in Bengaluru and 1.5 lakh saplings have been distributed, he said.
