Adding to the increasing cases of seizure of gold-plated silver medallions, meant to be distributed among the voters of the election to the State Legislative Council from Mysuru-Chamarajanagar local bodies segment, an additional 282 medallions were seized from the post offices in Nanjangud taluk, on Wednesday.

Following instructions from Tahsildar H Ramappa, the medallions were seized from the post offices at Hullahalli, Hura and Thandavapura in the taluk.

Ayub Khan’s pamphlets
A team of officials, led by Revenue Inspectors Nanjunda Swamy and Krishnakumar, seized the articles. The medallions are believed to have been dispatched by Ayub Khan, as pamphlets bearing his portraits have been seized from the postal covers. Khan is contesting the election as an independent candidate.

Following the recent seizures, separate cases have been booked at Hullahalli and Nanjangud rural police stations.

It may be mentioned that officials on election duty had recovered 715 medallions from various post offices in Nanjangud and other places in the district on December 19.

Clarifies
In a recent media briefing, Khan had denied any such attempts to lure voters and had instead blamed the postal department for defaming him.
